This organisation is redefining their industry within FinTech. They are changing the game!!
Tired of the traditional, automated systems that treat insurance like a one-size-fits-all product, they put people first. By listening to their customers’ unique needs and directly engaging with insurers, they craft bespoke solutions that offer real value. Their mission is simple: to humanise insurance.
As they continue to grow and evolve, they are looking for two Senior Software Engineers and one Mid-Level Software Engineer to join their team.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major re-platforming project that will play a critical role in modernising the systems and enhancing their technological capabilities.
Role Overview
As a Software Engineer you will be pivotal in helping them transition from legacy systems to a modern, scalable platform. Working closely with the engineering team, you will contribute to both greenfield and legacy projects, using a range of technologies to drive improvements and deliver new features.
You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of systems, including a critical project, as well as contribute to major re-platforming initiatives involving .NET, SQL, JavaScript, React AWS/Azure and more!!
If you have had exposure to Node, Golang, & Python, this would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to greenfield projects by developing new features and building applications from the ground up.
- Support and maintain legacy systems, ensuring they remain functional while transitioning to newer technologies.
- Develop and integrate APIs, ensuring smooth and efficient communication between systems.
- Help improve DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure).
Collaboration & Mentorship:
- Actively collaborate with the development team, data analysts, and other stakeholders to meet project deadlines and objectives.
- For Senior Developers: Mentor and support Mid-Level Developers, helping them grow technically and providing guidance on best practices and coding standards.
Immediate Projects
- Re-platforming to .NET: You will be working on a large-scale re-platforming project to migrate from legacy systems to modern .NET infrastructure, ensuring the platform scales and integrates smoothly.
- Golang Project: Dive into a complex Golang project to help build and maintain business-critical functionality.
- Legacy Systems Integration: Help bridge the gap between older systems and modern solutions, ensuring continued reliability during the transition.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in .NET, AND Golang OR Node.js is required.
- Familiarity with React (minimal but beneficial), Next.js, and JavaScript.
- Exposure to unit testing methodologies and frameworks.
- Strong experience working with SQL databases.
- Experience working in cloud environments like AWS or Azure is highly desirable.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong communication skills, both technical and non-technical, to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Interview Process
- Initial Chat: A friendly, non-technical 30-minute conversation with the CTO, to get to know each other and discuss the role.
- Technical Interview: A more in-depth, technical discussion on-site at the Manchester office. You will have the opportunity to discuss your experience and work on practical exercises related to the technologies mentioned.
Benefits
- Flexible working arrangements (2 days in the office).
- Standard benefits package, including health insurance and pension contributions.
- Opportunity to work in a growing company with a focus on innovation and personal development.
- 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
