Job Title: Software Engineers

 

Location: Manchester, UK (2 days per week in the office in Manchester)

 

Salaries: £45,000 - £65,0000

Tired of the traditional, automated systems that treat insurance like a one-size-fits-all product, they put people first. By listening to their customers’ unique needs and directly engaging with insurers, they craft bespoke solutions that offer real value. Their mission is simple: to humanise insurance.

 

As they continue to grow and evolve, they are looking for two Senior Software Engineers and one Mid-Level Software Engineer to join their team.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a major re-platforming project that will play a critical role in modernising the systems and enhancing their technological capabilities.

 

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer you will be pivotal in helping them transition from legacy systems to a modern, scalable platform. Working closely with the engineering team, you will contribute to both greenfield and legacy projects, using a range of technologies to drive improvements and deliver new features.

 

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of systems, including a critical project, as well as contribute to major re-platforming initiatives involving .NET, SQL, JavaScript, React AWS/Azure and more!!

 

If you have had exposure to Node, Golang, & Python, this would be highly advantageous.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to greenfield projects by developing new features and building applications from the ground up.
  • Support and maintain legacy systems, ensuring they remain functional while transitioning to newer technologies.
  • Develop and integrate APIs, ensuring smooth and efficient communication between systems.
  • Help improve DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure).

 

Collaboration & Mentorship:

  • Actively collaborate with the development team, data analysts, and other stakeholders to meet project deadlines and objectives.
  • For Senior Developers: Mentor and support Mid-Level Developers, helping them grow technically and providing guidance on best practices and coding standards.

 

Immediate Projects

  • Re-platforming to .NET: You will be working on a large-scale re-platforming project to migrate from legacy systems to modern .NET infrastructure, ensuring the platform scales and integrates smoothly.
  • Golang Project: Dive into a complex Golang project to help build and maintain business-critical functionality.
  • Legacy Systems Integration: Help bridge the gap between older systems and modern solutions, ensuring continued reliability during the transition.

 

Essential Skills and Experience

 

  • Proficiency in .NET, AND Golang OR Node.js is required.
  • Familiarity with React (minimal but beneficial), Next.js, and JavaScript.
  • Exposure to unit testing methodologies and frameworks.
  • Strong experience working with SQL databases.
  • Experience working in cloud environments like AWS or Azure is highly desirable.

 

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Strong communication skills, both technical and non-technical, to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

 

Interview Process

  1. Initial Chat: A friendly, non-technical 30-minute conversation with the CTO, to get to know each other and discuss the role.
  2. Technical Interview: A more in-depth, technical discussion on-site at the Manchester office. You will have the opportunity to discuss your experience and work on practical exercises related to the technologies mentioned.
